Just a little news

So, lately I've been busy in the books getting reports done for the end of the semester; there's been no time for any meaningful blogging. Today I figured I'd share some good news with you. Perkins School of Theology called to inform me that I have been accepted to attend for the fall semester! That was a blessing. Now, we just have to figure what we'll be doing when we get up to big D--we know we won't be c hanging basketball teams. Also, yesterday (April 29th) was a warm fuzzy day in our household. Fifteen years ago on that day I asked Gloria if she wanted me to change her life. Well, actually I just asked if she would go out with me. Let me put that into perspective for you: 15 years ago I was 15 year old! Stay blessed...john

Two of my all time favorite players (basketball) made the Hall of Fame, Hakeem "The Dream" Alajuwon and Patrick Ewing. How could you not be impressed with the Dream Shake?! Oprah's On!

I was going to comment on the Oprah stuff, but I deleted (on purpose) everything I had written just because it frustrated me so much. Several people have asked me about it in church. The only reason I think it would be worth mentioning is the fact that she does have so many people that revere her as one who is only capable of speaking truth. Everyone is looking for something. My question: Is what is already available not good enough because it doesn't give us what we really want to hear? I love (sarcasm) how so many people use the church of God as their catapult into their new found ideas, "I was raised Baptist..." "My momma had me in church every Sunday.." "I read the Bible back and forth..." No you didn't. But it was the church itself that led them to the new, real truth. Now, there is some sermon material in that concept. I'm not touching that right now. And of course that is what a lot of Christians do as well. "It was the de...
